some books..

well, finished  reading some books in last two weeks... most touchy was 'the diary of a young girl' by  Anne Frank. For years i have heard that death is  the ultimate reality...truth which will happen for sure but even then each among us walks believing that nothing gonna happen to us ever ,but for me ,i think this inherrent aspect of us towards life sets us apart from other species . This never say die attitude of ours  makes us what we are today.  This book is based on the  diary of the  writer written in 1942-44 under the  shadows of  Nazi rule in Holland. The most important thing  for me was  the level of thinking of the writer at the tender  age of  13 and the impact of greed and lunacy of some guys at the top on the lives of  innocent people.
while, i couldn't help imagining the horrors of living in a small apartment for two years under the constant possibility of being caught by the merciless SS , more traumatic thing was the emotional quotient at the sudden abrupt ending  of diary. It is always painful when dreams get interrupted by sudden death.
off late, i  have started  reading and watching a  lot of stuff about the second world war. While its really depresing to read about jews , more appaling was the animal nature of  Germans.
The oroginal clippings of  concenteration  camps  in  some  documentaries were heart rending, can make anyone to think  how can we degrade to such low levels as humans.
Another book, which i read  was Mein kampf' by Adolf  Hitler, well  just wanted to know what it takes to become such a savage beast. after  having  seen  snaps of  Hitler , i had always imagined him to be a  comic lunatic, just like the joker in The Dark Knight and this  assumption was further boosted after watching The Inglorius Basterds  last year. well,  turned out i was wrong all these years. His parents died while he was still in teens and the passages relating to his struggle years  in Vienna were really motivating enough. More impressive was his will  to insist to become what he liked, not what his  father wanted and while one cant  help being impressed by his genius in being able to see things so clearly at the early part of his life another notion that gets itself cemented is that talent in wrong environment can be lethal and thats what  made him the greatest   murderer of modern times.
